According to Siddhartha multiple college yearly calendar, we student of BSW first year were taken to field trip. We packed our bags and set destination towards Okhaldhunga District to participate in social work service in VIN’s project site. We made a Target to make ourselves useful to provide service and give back to society from 2076/02/03 to 2076/02/06.
The very first day we made a group of 23 people that included 15 girls, 6 boys and 2 teachers. With the start of our travelling, we crossed Kathmandu, Banepa, Kavre, Sindhuli and many more mesmerizing places and stopped for food in Udaypur at a place called Ghurmi. After the break, we resumed our journey. We reached our destination after very long trip and we were lucky enough to enjoy the view of Rumjatar from Okhaldhunga. This place was very new for us and did not fail to surprise us more by its beauty. Before travelling, we knew Okhaldhuga is the birthplace of great poet (Yuga Kabi) Shiddhicharan Shrestha the more we travelled, it gave more justice to Siddhichran’s poem about Okhaldhungha which we studied in school level.
We reached our destination Thulachhap around 8:00 pm, we roamed around temples and had interaction with VIN’s local staffs and community people. In the afternoon, we visited community-learning center which is under construction targeting to the whole community area.
Third day, we made teams of each group with 4 members and went to do surveys in different places of Thulechap about Dalit communities, their economic stability to whom VIN has been helping to uplift their life standard. After data collection, we organized program in a school situated in Thulachhap called Ratnamala School and did distribution of some sports essentials to the students. After the program finished, we headed towards Halesi one of the most prestigious temples of Nepal to visit. The fourth day, we visited Halsi and did all the religious rituals that Hindu community does and with a promise to return back again to this beautiful place we all packed our bags to get back home.
