Volunteers Initiative Nepal have conducted children development program, Child Rights in different school of the kavresthali community.
Since the Child right the convention took place, it is now important to promote their rights to the children themselves. Therefore the association VIN has started a project to deploy this concept to the schools of the community. The objective of this project is to inform children from 8 to 15 years old about their rights as children and to give them general information about child rights. The volunteers and staff have started, to visit several schools from the kavresthali community area. They have presented to four different classes in each school what the child rights are and their history. They also went a little bit deeper in the subject to explain what the four types of child rights are: right to survival, right to development, right to protection and right to participation. As a conclusion, they discussed with them that there are not only rights but also responsibilities related to these.
So far, this has been a very positive experience. Children were very attentive and participated to the discussion. they could get more details and examples for each type of rights, Considering the enthusiasm of the children, the volunteers are hopeful that they will share what they learned and that this will be beneficial for the whole community. VIN has implemented Children development program to ensure the rights of the children and contribute for their physical and mental development.
