Seven months on from the earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25th, many continue to face multiple risks as their families have been pushed deeper into poverty and remain in need of aid.
At the request of VIN the Salvation Army has answered the call for aid by providing a generous donation of 150 quilts for Earthquake affected victims. This donation is particularly important at this time as those suffering in the aftermath of the disaster approach the cold winter months.
VIN distributed those quilts in different locations like, Nyagyour Memorial School for earthquake affected children. The children there are mainly from the most earthquake affected districts like Gorkha, Dhading, Rasuwa and Sindhupahchowk who have either lost their parents in the earthquake or from the very poor economic background. Likewise, VIN also distributed the remaining blankets to some other orphanage homes like, Ganesh Himal and Gangakar children homes.
Executive Director of VIN Bhupi said ‘We are very grateful to the Salvation Army for their donation. These quilts will go a long way in making the winter more bearable for those hit hard by the earthquake and children in the orphanages.’
This gesture by the partner demonstrates cooperation between NGO’s and what good can be achieved when working in partnership. We hope that we can aid more people in Nepal through continued mutual understanding.
