Work camp is referred as a short term project where individual from various religious organizations volunteer to fulfill the immediate need of the society.
We empower the community by four major development initiatives i.e. women empowerment, community health, children development and youth empowerment. Our four pillars of development initiatives are education, health, income & basic infrastructure which are vital for the empowerment of disadvantaged communities.
It is most essential to develop basic infrastructure to achieve the goal of quality education, community health, and income. The school without proper classrooms, playground, fences and decoration cannot contribute to quality education. Most schools in the rural communities in Nepal lack the most basic physical infrastructure.
The poor country like Nepal lacks capital, skilled human resources, technical expertise and proper strategic plan for development. Furthermore, the unstable political turmoil and deep rooted corruption has obstructed the development process. We can empower community by utilizing our own potential and experience in best possible way.
VIN conducts various work camps, Long –term, Mid Term Volunteering projects. Work camps are organized for those who wish to contribute for the development of marginalized community despite of short time to volunteer. VIN’s Work camps are designed to address the immediate need of infrastructure development in the community. The activities are more focused on hands on activities such as constructing toilets in the community, building school compounds, libraries, classroom, painting and decorating school premises, classrooms etc.
We have hosted various work camps with our Asian and European partners around the globe. Our successful work camp activities and immediate result received so far have encouraged us to conduct more work camps in future.
The Long term or Midterm volunteers work for longer time whereas the work campers fulfill the immediate need of community utilizing their limited time and hence creating positive impact in the community.
VIN’s work camp focuses on providing an immense opportunity for cultural immersion. The work campers will stay with a host family in the community. They will learn about the Nepalese culture, language and lifestyle.
Anyone who is interested to utilize their time and energy for the empowerment of poor and disadvantaged communities in Nepal can apply for participation. Your involvement can make authentic difference.
We have 5 different projects under work camp for 2017:
Animal welfare camp 2017
For sustainable future of the planet and environmental conservation, VIN is going to conduct the Animal Welfare Camp for their upcoming work camp volunteers. This camp basically looks upon dog, works for their healthy build up, their protection and preservation(may be bathing, bandaging of wound and many more).
In partnership with different organizations like Community Dog Welfare (CDW) Kapan, VIN helps stray dogs of the society, picks them up and keeps it in the dog welfare camp, where there are experts and volunteers to take care of them. Its much like running an orphanage but, for animal.
Post disaster and support 2017:
VIN conducts toilets/home construction, and works to restore the cultural heritages that are affected by earthquake. VIN also mobilizes work camp volunteers to demolish the damage structure and manage the waste, work for school constructions and their rennovation.
With large involvement of local and international volunteers VIN has been successful to construct 200 toilets which have completely changed the face of jitpurphedi and moving further for more construction. The work campers under this project will be involved in activities such as construction of toilet, impart awareness on right use of toilets.
