Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN) has been cooperating with women cooperative for women empowerment in Jitpurphedi. Cooperative has altogether 592 members, working for economic and social welfare of women. After the devastating earthquake of 25 April 2015, many people became homeless in VIN’s working community.
Cooperating members are also affected by earthquake. VIN wants to help cooperative’s women by launching new program in community. The main objective of this program was to help the women to build temporary shelter and provide support to women in order to fulfill their daily needs. The main activities were conducting meeting in a cluster wise basis by VIN staffs and sharing earthquake relief ideas with women. There were fifteen meeting conducted. VIN provided total six hundred thousand rupees’ to all community women. This has helped the women of Jitpurphedi a lot. The women of the community are happy and many of them have been able to build primary shelter. They thanked VIN for their support and were very happy.
Despite the hard work of VIN and other generous people, still many victims do not have shelter. Monsoon was just started. Victim’s life will be so hard if they don’t get shelter quickly.
