Volunteers Initiative Nepal received ten more workcamp volunteers on the fifth of September from different countries for post disaster relief program. After the successful completion of 550 transitional home project in three communities (Jitpur, Okhaldunga and Okharpauwa), VIN has started the toilet construction project for earthquake victim of Jitpur communities.
Though Transitional home provided the shelter and protection from heavy monsoon, lack of toilet increased the risk of spreading of different health hazards and communicable diseases within the community. So, immediately after the completion of transitional home VIN focus on the project of toilet construction and the participation of enthusiastic volunteers had helped in the rapid progress of the project. These ten volunteers are divided into five groups with two volunteers in each group. They have been mobilized in the Devisthan in five different family members for toilet construction. This sanitation project will benefit the family, community and the environment as a whole.
The proper disposal of faeces is going to keep the surrounding area clean, preventing the soil, water and air contamination from the faeces and will contribute a lot in keeping the family members healthy and control the spread of many communicable diseases.VIN has been contributed to the entire community by organizing and conducting different programs with the help of international and national volunteers.
