May 29th 2014: Aiming to empower the female population of Taluwa VDC(Village Development Community) of Okhaldhunga , VIN has been mantaining different programs to women groups previously formed by the organization in each of the wards in the village. Keeping in line with this aim, VIN has established a Womens Co-operative in Taluwa which seeks to improve the socio-economic status of the women in the Co-operative. The Co-operative is now registered. The women will be beniffited in various way.
Bearing the name, ”Taluwa Women Multipurpose Co-operatives Ltd.”, both executive and management committees with representation from each ward in the village has now been completed.. As the name implies the women themselves will be the collective owners of the Co-operative, and the services of the Co-operative will be exclusively for them.
The Co-operative ”Jitpur Phedi Agricultural Women Cooperative Limited” is running very successfully in Jitpur Phedi. More than 500 women have already benefited from the women’s Co-operative, and the situation of the women in the area has changed for the better after the establishment of the Co-operative. VIN aims to achieve similar succes in Taluwa.
