VIN supports various projects in Jitpurphedi community. The volunteer from France Celia Delaby conducted human trafficking awareness classes under women’s empowerment Program. The main objective of the class was to increase awareness in the community about the reality of human trafficking and finding possible solution for this problem.
Celia focused on the root causes of trafficking, characteristics and prevention of human trafficking and how can we reintegrate the tracking victims after rescue. Further many issues were discussed such as how the trafficked women were forced to tolerate the inhuman and cruel behavior; they are sexually and physically abused, and are vulnerable to sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV Aids. The trafficked girls even after rescue face discrimination in society. The classes were organized among the newar community of Khyalguchha and Tinkhoria who were backward and illiterate. The participants had very few knowledge about human trafficking. The question answer session helped the participants to understand the issues of human trafficking more easily.
