Two cycles are used in the theory of disaster management: the so-called disaster management cycle (prevention, preparedness, disaster, acute phase, recovery phase, mitigation/prevention) and the circle of Deming (plan-do-check-act-plan). Both cycles emphasize that after a disaster the taken actions are evaluated in order to improve the reaction to a next disaster. With that theory in mind, lessons learned sessions were created. The main goals of the sessions are/were to get the community talking about what happened, to share the lessons learned by individual members of the community with the community, to raise awareness and to improve future disaster preparedness education by VIN.
From 28 July 2015, lessons learned sessions were held with the various women groups of the Jitpur community. The results of these sessions are summed up in this report. Furthermore, a summary of all the tips and advice from the women is given that could be given back to the women groups
