Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN) aimed to build 200 temporary houses to most affected earthquake victim of jitpurphedi. So far, VIN was able to build 9 houses with the help of local residents and volunteers. It seems tough to build 200 houses within month but VIN is working hard to bring smile on the victim’s face by providing them shelter on time.
VIN recruited 27 local volunteers for this noble cause. All these volunteers got training before starting their work in field. In two days training, they got a chance to know about time management, communication skill, team work, first aid, risk and hazard by VIN’s management. These volunteers are divided into 9 groups; each group contains 3 local volunteers and 1 skilled manpower for assisting them in their work in field. All volunteers are mobilized into field with required tools such as hammer, saw, helmet, gloves, and mask etc.
April 25th massive earthquake and its aftershock badly hit VIN’s working communities too. 90% of community’s houses and schools are completely damaged. People are living in open space in tent. Child and women are not safe in tent. Some sexual misbehave and burglary news can be heard in television, radio and daily newspaper. Besides that, tents are very vulnerable to storm and rain. Monsoon is near; that’s why victim desperately needs permanent shelter.
VIN is getting support from local and international level. Its 3 international volunteers from USA and UK are also engaged in building houses for victim. People are going back to their normal life after massive earthquake even though there is still some aftershock of earthquake. Victim lost everything they had; now they are resource less. They need a help of generous people like you. You can help them by participating VIN’s earthquake disaster relief volunteering project or simply by donating to VIN so that VIN can operate volunteering work for these victims.
