I started on the women empowerment project just over a week ago. I have held some English classes and I will also be starting to teach and assist the local women in embroidery training. My first English class was in a village called Atthmile with another volunteer. Since then I have been teaching another class in Devisthan. The teaching is a lot fun but it can be fairly unpredictable who will turn up as a lot of the women have other jobs, field work and other things. This can make it hard sometimes as they miss classes. Other than that it is a great experience and I feel like I am definitely teaching them some English, at least I hope I can.
As time goes in I hope to get onto more tricky subjects such as past and present tense and more structured sentences. As I am here for 2 months I think I will be able to make a real difference. So far the embroidery class has started to be organized. Am I really excited about this project as it is something I am very passionate. The women hope to sell what they make in the city. It will be such an experience to see the project through hopefully until they manage to set up a successful business.
