5th May, 2014: VIN has been supporting for personal toilet construction program from 2009 in Jitpurphedi VDC, Kathmandu. It is related to community health project of VIN. The major objectives are to improve basic health and hygiene facility by providing toilet facilities to the community people and to support of government to declare Jitpurphedi as open defecate free community. The toilet construction program was initiated by collecting data by using PRA method and need assessment. During the construction period VIN provided non local materials; 4bags cement, 20kg iron rod, 2 pieces roof materials, pan pipe set and wire and mobilize local and international volunteers and also supervision and monitoring work.
This April 1 French, 6 Danish volunteers and 3 Nepali volunteers helped to construct toilet work in Panchmane roadside and Dhitalgaun. French volunteer helped digging safety tank hole for Maiya ghimire and Sarswoti Phuyal. They also helped Debaki and Krisnahari Phuyal for digging safety tank and making wall for safety tank. Danish group volunteers directly involved in digging safety tank and help to skill labor on toilet construction work.
