Empowering Youth and Communities: VIN Welcomes New ESC-YWC Volunteer and Celebrates ESC HumAid Achievements

Volunteer Initiative Nepal (VIN) is pleased to welcome Sacha Pinchart from France as the new ESC-YWC volunteer. He arrived in Nepal on April 21, 2025, and since his arrival, he has received a comprehensive orientation covering cultural awareness, health and safety guidelines, logistical support, basic Nepali language, and an overview of the project he will be involved in. Sacha will be working with VIN for five months under the Youth Empowerment Project.

During this time, he will carry out various activities aimed at supporting and uplifting local youth. His responsibilities will include conducting computer literacy classes, strengthening local youth clubs, delivering professional development skills training, leading English language classes, and organizing workshops on gender equality and the role of youth in society. In his first month, Sacha will focus on delivering computer literacy classes and strengthening the youth club to help lay a strong foundation for the rest of his volunteer period.

ESC HumAid (Vol4HumAid) volunteers Mariana and Deniss have successfully completed their five-month volunteering in Okhaldhunga. Mariana worked on the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) project, where she played a key role in forming the Disaster Management Committee (DMC) and strengthening its capacity through targeted trainings. These included Community Preparedness and Response Training (CPRT), which offered both theoretical and practical knowledge on first aid, search and rescue, and fire safety, as well as community management training that covered committee structure, deployment processes, financial management, and the legal registration process.

Meanwhile, Deniss worked on the Sustainable Food Production (Permaculture) project. His contributions included raising the farm beds for permaculture, repainting a water tank, and planting trees to support long-term food security and ecological sustainability. Both volunteers successfully completed their tasks, making a meaningful impact on the community in Okhaldhunga.
