VIN’s Women Empowerment Program seeks to improve the quality of life of women living in the underprivileged, rural communities where we run our projects by providing them with economic tools, a basic education, improved health and a life without violence. To achieve this objective we run Education, Rights and Life Skills, Microcredit Cooperative Support and Income Generation & Marketing projects under our women empowerment program. VIN believes that through the empowerment of women and children, the entire community can be transformed.So VIN is going to implement women’s empowerment program in Kavresthali communty from this year. So the need assesment survey is first step for implementation of projects.
Objectives of survey /Research
- To collect data of the current situation (general status, social status, economic status)
- To identify the woman needs and expectations (rights and life skills education, microcredit cooperative, income generation activities)
While doing research we have applied case study method with descriptive and exploratory, it based on detailed investigation and records the study area. These information are collected by the survey, observation or materials related to the subject matter.
These interviews will help the VIN to organize women empowerment activities in Kavresthali . Interviewee asked 24 questions following to the questionnaire pattern. They talked about women’s right, life skills lessons to enhance the ability of women. According to the survey most of the women were educated and some of are not. Basically women were busy in their own work. They are showing less interest on trainings and expecting other else instead. Also, most of the women said that Korean organization is providing trainings like- tailoring, computer, tuition class, for interested women and children without any cost in kavresthali . Mostly all women are engaged in many women’s group which are krisi samuha, Aama samuha, akal mahila samuha, rakshya devi samuha, laghu brita samuha, mahila samuha and so on. There are all total 78 interviews in Kavresthali, Tarkeshwor-4.
Conclusion:
Empowering women will give them the skills and knowledge to take advantage of the many opportunities available to them to improve their lives. Providing women with an education, job training and basic services to ease household responsibilities are ways to empower women. As women become more knowledgeable and acquire skills, they can accomplish a great deal.
Recommendation:
- Volunteers should be trained before sending for survey
- More questionnaire should be provided to write answers in the same form
