Public health and medical care volunteers in action

Three volunteers Marielle from Philipines, Brechje and Willanka from Netherlands have joined public health and medical care volunteer project in VIN from 1st June. The volunteers are already working in the community. The two volunteers for public health and medical care volunteer project have also started working at the community. They are working in health post (community clinic) for 2 days in a week. While in the clinic, they are helping the VIN’s doctor by assisting him in taking the vitals, keeping records, examining patients, dressing and maintaining sterilization and supporting other staffs. Besides working in the clinic, they will also be conducting a survey on VIN’s public health program impact in the other days. For the survey they will interview the locals, observe the area and sit for focus group discussion. The volunteers for public health and medical care volunteer program will collect information from Jitpurphedi and Kavresthali and will compare the findings at last to see and analyze the differences.
VIN has initiated public health and medical care volunteer project in Kavresthali from this year. Kavresthali covers ward 4, 5 and 6 of Tarkeswore municipality. VIN’s public health team works in health clinic twice in a week in the community. The team with medical doctor works in the clinic to provide quality medical services to the patients. VIN has been supporting medical care services to rural communities of Nepal since 2009. VIN medical team works at health post and conduct health camps in school and villages. It is aimed to improve the quality of health services providing by the health post.
It is a great opportunity to support national health care service delivery through VIN public health and medical care projects. The volunteers can learn and contribute skills for the welfare of the underserved people by involving in public health and medical care volunteer project.
