New project site Kavresthali

VIN has officially launched community development projects to the new site, Kavresthali. It has trained youth from Kavresthali on camp leader training to develop their capacity through leadership skills, started water hygiene and sanitation (WASH) survey and placed volunteers in health centre. Community people are found excited with VIN projects. Ward secretary, health centre in charge, school principals and local people are happy to work with VIN.

Kavresthali lies in north Kathmandu about 9 km from the city. It has covered Tarkeswore municipality ward 4, 5 and 6. It has 1007 households with 2690 population (a data provided by ward office). It is said that many people are migrated from the area after earthquake.  There is no other organization working in the area. It has a need in the area of health, WASH, reconstruction and renovation of social institutions. People are in need of life skills and income generation activities.
VIN has been working in Jitpurphedi community since 2007 using an integrated development approach. It has extended project sites to three VDCs of Okhaldhunga and a VDC of Nuwakot. It has focused women and children who are considered as vulnerable and are at the fringe of development. Therefore, it developed programs to empower those groups involving all community people. Major programs are Women’s Empowerment, Children’s Development, Youth Empowerment, Public health and Medical Care, Environment Conservation and Disaster Response & Relief.
Currently VIN supports six communities, Jitpurphedi and Kavresthali of Kathmandu, Taluwa, Thulachhap and Bhadaure of Okhaldhunga and Okarpauwa of Nuwakot. More than 50000 people are benefitting from the VIN’s project.
