VIN has been delivering Limited Resource teachers training for 76 teachers of Kathmandu from public and private schools. Many of the teachers are untrained in Nepal. Nepali schools still practice the traditional way of teaching where teachers are busy in giving lectures and writing on board and children are busy in copying and memorizing the lines. Therefore, VIN’s aim is to train the teachers on the different activities and creative ideas in class. So VIN has developed a Teacher’s Development program which is solely designed to develop a teacher and their skills. VIN organizes at least two to three such training workshops for the teachers in a year.
LRTT is being delivered to teachers of secondary level. The teachers training started with the observation of the teachers in the class room. Two LRTT members were sent in each school for the observation; the observation was done in 14 private and public schools. The training took place in Nepal Rastriya College, Nepaltar from 22nd August, 2014. LRTT is a sustainable charity which provides training to teachers in different countries like Uganda, Nepal, India, Cambodia and Tanzania. LRTT equips teachers with the tools and strategies to succeed in empowering pupils to overcome the challenges of their situation through quality education. VIN organized training for teachers collaborating with LRTT group and it has benefitting 76 teachers from different schools.
The training started with a 30 minutes opening ceremony where each teachers and LRTT members introduced themselves. This is the second time for LRTT group to conduct training in Nepal. The four days training was divided into four sessions each day. With the welcome ceremony, the training continued with different sessions like Engagement, Motivation and Contextualization, Lesson planning, differentiation for slow learning and fast learners, questioning, behavior for learning, higher order thinking etc. This workshop will end on 26th of August where the LRTT members will again visit different schools for post-observation.
VIN is very thankful to LRTT members and the teachers for this training workshop. Teacher Development program runs throughout the year so if anyone interested to participate in this rewarding program then visit our website.
