Volunteers Initiative Nepal has conducted health campaign in Nyagmour School of Thankot on last Wednesday. Nyagmour School was established after the massive earthquake hit the Nepal. The school has taken in 350 children from different earthquake affected districts. Volunteers Initiative Nepal has collaborated with the school since the November 2015. VIN sent two international volunteers in school for teaching English Project. The volunteers are from Spain and Germany. The two volunteers have provided many effective services to the children. They have been teaching the English classes, providing nursing session and awareness program of health and hygiene to the school. In the nursing sessions the volunteers provide medical care for the children, they dress wounds, treat medical conditions and provide medication where needed.
On 23rd December 2015, VIN arranged that Dr. Laxmi visited the school. Dr. Laxmi has treated seven children with the most critical conditions in the school. He dressed the wounds and prescribed medication for the children, additionally he trained the volunteers, Aani and the principal from the school to do the first aid for the affected children. VIN has donated medicines and many medical kits to the school as well. In the training session, the volunteers, Aani and the principal learned about the different types of medication. They were also taught how to treat the medical conditions of the less severe patients. Since there were many communicable diseases as well, such as fungal infections, Dr. Laxmi taught the principal how to prevent spread of these diseases. The best method is to improve the hygiene, so dr. Laxmi gave some hygiene suggestions and methods how to recognize these conditions and how to treat them.
