Background
Local/ social situation/ needs for the project
 
Name and description of the local host
Teaching English and taking care of disadvantage children in Lap Thach center of Hope in Vinh Phuc. The project site is far around 70km from Ha Noi.
 
Aims and expected impact of the project
To help children who are orphans either of one or both parents and are in financially
difficult circumstances or whose parents are handicapped and have little extended family support.
 
Main voluntary work

  • Create a English environment for kids to learn, speak English
  • Assist the staffs in center to take care of children
  • Encourage the children to join leisure & social activities, living skills

  • Sleeping: Single room
  • Meals: Cooked by locals
  • How and how long to go to work:
  • Smoking: Only outside building
  • Internet access: Yes
  • Any other points: The volunteers will live with the local people and should orientate themselves.

 
 
Location
Vinh Phuc is in the North of Vietnam. There are 4 seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. We will contact with volunteers in detail before they come to their project. There are many place for traveling such as Sapa, Ha Long bay, Mai Chau and Ba Vi are near the project site. The volunteers can travel in the weekend.
 
Terminal

  • Nearest international airport: Noi Bai international airport
  • Transportation from the capital or other major city: You will be picked up to SJ Vietnam office then the coordinator will go to project with you by bus

 
 
Other activities
Volunteers will join all other events, festival with SJ Vietnam and local people during their time. They are free to travel and discovery culture, beautiful place in Vietnam by themselves
 
Qualification for volunteers

  • Required: High motivation to work with kids/ Adapt quickly with Vietnamese culture/ Openmind to share and learn new things
  • Preferable: Good English is asset

Financial Condition

  • Fee to be paid for the full period: 67,500,000 VND (3,208 US$ as of 2014 Feb. 02) for 9 months that means 7,500,000 VND (356 US$) per month.
  • Pocket money to be paid for the full period: none

 
Meetings

  • On arrival training: 2 days in project site after arrival day of volunteers
  • Special care during Project: Short report every month with coordinator and evaluate the work weekly with mentor.
  • Evaluation meeting: 1 day
