Before I came to Nepal I had heard about VIN through the Danish agency called Karavane world. After some time on the internet checking for information regarding VIN I got really inspired of the different programs going on and wanted to take part of.I decided to pack my things and take off to start my adventures in Nepal and my volunteering period with VIN.
When I first came here and met the staff under the induction, I had a clear idea of which program I was going to work with. Due to some mix up I ended up doing some other program, which actually turned out being much more beneficial both for me and VIN organization. I worked with the program concerning school education regarding mitigation and preparedness towards earthquakes.
I had some expectations for myself and my person to grow in order to take more concern of my life and to act more maturely regarding work and school relations. Having the main responsibility for the earthquake education program, made me more confident individual as a person. Therefore I have gotten a brilliant opportunity to work further with my personal interests when I get back to Denmark.
I had some challenges regarding the language barrier at first, but having great support from the VIN staff, who provided a translator when I had to teach at the schools, made this challenge much easier to cope with. I also got a good friend out of it, speaking about the translator.
As earlier described I wanted to grow as a person and to find some inner peace. Working with VIN and the specific program has helped me a lot in the right direction and I am thankful for the opportunity to work with VIN. This will help me in the future in so many ways, f. ex doing schoolwork, applying for job and how to stay concentrated in life to achieve the things I want out of life.
