I made seven weeks of volunteering with VIN. In the women empowerment program, we made, with gardika, the local volunteer, 20 classes with different women in the community of jitpurphedi about leadership, women’s rights and domestic violence. It was really interesting and helpful because a lot of them didn’t know about their rights. I am really happy to have the opportunity to inform them about that. I really hope that something will be prepared for that girls and the VIN staff will find a way to help them to find a solution.
Then I also think that the local volunteer who really makes a remarkable work in VIN project are not enough recognized in their duty. I think that’s not a good looking for the organization. In fact they are really essential to permit to the international volunteer to do their job and I felt not comfortable when I saw that I was the only one who was recognized in that! However I felt helpful in my duty to inform about women’s right. Its essential to fight for our rights and I really felt that some groups were helping each other and compact. They really needed to be consistent about their nights. Concerning the domestic violence, most of them knew what it was but the simple fact to put words on that, to discuss that question can be a way to take conscience of what they were living and to try find a solution. It could be great for VIN to create and partnership with other organization who take care of women victim of violence, like Saathi for example.
It’s really important to inform them about all that topics but the way to find solutions for the, is still vague.
