Marketing Advisor

Program Fees Market Advisor,VIN

Are you embarking on a career in marketing advisor?  Do you work in marketing and wanting to give something back?  If the answer is yes, VIN has the perfect opportunity for you.  Volunteer or complete an internship in Nepal.  Share your experience, generate new ideas and most of all help promote VIN, enabling us to carry out our work with the marginalised, rural communities of Nepal.

As a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation, VIN relies on the support and resources of international volunteers.  Like any presence that seeks to attract the attention of others, consistent and effective marketing is crucial to our success.

VIN’s principle objective is the empowerment of marginalised rural communities, with a focus on those most marginalised; women and children.  Since 2007 we have worked with JitpurphediVillage Development Committee (VDC), 12 km from Kathmandu, and have recently begun work in Okhaldhunga district, in the Everest region.  Our work is based on the foundations of health, education, economic tools and the provision of basic infrastructure.  On these foundations we can build an empowered and independent community.

We seek a volunteer or intern who can help us to maximise awareness of our programs through social media and more traditional mediums, review existing marketing plans, conduct market research, generate new ideas and have input into our marketing strategy.  We are looking for a motivated person who has excellent written and communication skills and preferably some prior experience as a marketing advisor.

During your placement you will work from our Kathmandu office, although we will try to ensure you are able to visit and experience some of our community-based programs.  During this time you will live with a Nepali host family; this will enable you to become immersed in the language and culture of the people you are devoting your skills to help.

Marketing Advisor as a Person

Marketing Advisor Purpose

To assist VIN and its team in maximizing awareness of volunteer programs via social media and traditional marketing. Also to help keep interest in the VIN program by providing new and highly skilled international volunteers to the program.

Throughout your placement you will have the full support of VIN.  Your safety is our highest priority.  On arrival you will be greeted at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and transported to your hotel (alternative arrangements can be made for those already in Nepal prior to the start of their placement).  You will then receive a comprehensive three-day induction, during which time you will be provided with information about your particular placement as well as general information, including basic Nepalese language and culture.  This is also a good time to mix with other volunteers or interns who may be great sight-seeing companions and a source of support during your volunteer placement.

During the induction you will be accommodated in a hotel.  However, a large part of the VIN experience comes from the immersion of a home stay with a Nepalese host family.  While this is an essential part of the experience we also recognise that it can be a challenging one, becoming part of a new culture and becoming accustomed to facilities that will be more basic than those you are used to.  However, all our host families are experienced in accommodating volunteers – although their ability to speak English will vary – and you will have 24 hour access to contact and support from our staff members during your placement.
