About us
IBO Italia is a Christian-inspired Civil Society Organisation active in international cooperation
and voluntary work in Italy and around the world. Also known as the Associazione Italiana
Soci Costruttori (Italian Builders’ Association), it is part of a network that began in 1953 with
work camps to rebuild homes for WWII refugees. The acronym IBO stands for International
Bouworde (“International Building Members”).
Present in Italy since 1957 and formally established as an association in 1968, IBO Italia
was recognized by MAECI as suitable to operate in the field of international cooperation in
1972. Originally founded in Cognola di Trento, it now has its national headquarters in
Ferrara, with branch offices in Parma (Italy), Lima (Peru), Iringa (Tanzania), Quito (Ecuador),
and a network of partners across Italy and abroad.
Our vision
A world where everyone can have an education and training that gives them the freedom to
choose to live both within their own territory and elsewhere. A society in which everyone
feels equally responsible towards others.
Our goals
IBO Italia’s commitment is part of the broader framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable
Development, contributing to the implementation of 8 out of the 17 Sustainable Development

(4); Decent Work and Economic growth (8); Reduced inequalities (10); Climate Action (13);
Peace, justice and strong institutions (16); Partnerships for the goals (17).
Our mission
