Dunisha Tolangi

Dunisha Tolangi

Introduction

“So, carrying water is your housework, Dunisha?”

“Yes.”

“How often do you have to carry it?”

“Every day. We will use it up in a day.”

A girl puts seven bottles of water in a basket. She carries them on her back, pulling the rope by her head. The basket is difficult to carry even for an adult male. Asked “isn’t it heavy?”, she answers “no, I got used to it.” It is only after she finishes all her housework that she can work on homework.”

Dunisha Tolangi is a bright and hardworking 10-year-old girl residing in Thulachhap, Okhaldhunga, Nepal. She is a 5th-grade student at Raktamala Basic School in Jordhara.

“What do you want to be after you grow up?”

“I want to be a doctor.”

“Why?”

“Because when I got sick, a doctor helped me a lot by giving me treatment. I have a strong impression of it.” She answers with a shy face. Her favorite subject is science. She also enjoys playing kabaddi and actively participates in school life.

Despite her lovely characteristic and hope, her family faces challenges in ensuring Dunisha has all the resources she needs to thrive.

Family & Challenges

Dunisha Tolangi working

Dunisha lives in the house of her mother’s sister. Her parents are not living with her. Her father is in Europe, and her mother Ramila Tolangi is in Kuwait. Here in a remote village, every villager says that they cannot find job. Dunisha’s parents, too. They recently decided to work abroad to overcome their financial difficulty. However, they paid much money to achieve that. Therefore, it still seems to take time for them to be able to meet their basic needs without worry. Ensuring all of Dunisha’s educational needs is now not easy.

The family faces these key challenges:

  • Educational Expenses: Even with the income from abroad, covering the costs of quality education can be a financial strain.
  • Resource Management: Managing finances effectively when income is irregular or dependent on foreign employment can be challenging.

The Need for Sponsorship

Sponsorship is valuable for Dunisha. It will provide her with:

  • School Supplies: Essential materials such as books, stationery, and a school uniform.
  • Financial Aid: Help with school fees and other educational expenses.
  • Healthcare Access: Ensuring she can access medical care when needed.

Sponsoring Dunisha will have a positive impact on her life. It will:

  • Allow her to continue her education without financial concerns.
  • Enable her to participate in extracurricular activities and pursue her interests.
  • Provide stability and support, enhancing her overall well-being.

Conclusion

Dunisha Tolangi is a promising young girl, who deserves a bright future. Sponsorship will offer her the additional support and opportunities she needs to achieve her goals and dreams.
