Nine months of my experience at VIN – Pawel Bryk an EU Aid Volunteer
My name is Paweł Bryk and I had been an European Union Aid Volunteer at VIN between September 2018 and June 2019. In the 9 months of my experience at VIN I had an opportunity to get familiar with Nepal, organization and countless volunteers coming to take part in the project. More importantly, during this time I have also met the members of the communities in which VIN works. Especially this last group is the one that had showed me the needs and challenges that are facing Nepali society. Luckily, VIN offers some solution on how those obstacle can be overcome.
Perhaps the most important strength of VIN volunteering projects are their complete, holistic dimension – the variation of different options for contribution of time makes the organization suitable for many volunteers. The input that a volunteer can provide can vary between conducting English lessons, working on marketing of emerging social entrepreneurships or helping in administrative tasks. All of the above are offering a chance to come with initiative, immerse in the culture and meet many of the like-minded peers – both from Nepal as well as from around the world.
Nine months in Nepal gave me personally a good overview of the local problems, allowed me to come out with my own ideas for developing the community as well as enabled me to get to know the individual people that are making Nepal a better place.
Also – the mountains. Mountains in Nepal are wonders beyond all dispute.
