My name is Mikkel Mirsbach Rasmussen, I am an intern from Denmark who study Disaster and Risk Management at the Metropolitan University College of Copenhagen.During my internship with VIN (Volunteers Initiative Nepal) I have been working in the toilet construction under construction and manual work project and doing risk mapping in the village development committee Jitpurphedi which is located 10 km outside of Kathmandu.I came to Nepal with some other interns from my study with whom I have developed a scrapbook for toilet construction to make it easier for future volunteers to use, and we have made some questionnaires about basic hygiene and toilets which we have used to interview the residents in Jitpurphedi. The data we have collected through these interviews are we currently using to make a part of a bigger report for VIN. The purpose of the report is to highlight some of the issues, but also positive things you find in Jitpurphedi, so that VIN can continue to develop and grow as an organization, so they can continue helping people in need of their assistance.
My stay with VIN has been really good. I have learned a lot about VIN, Nepal, the inhabitants in the Kathmandu Valley and the culture, but also a lot about myself.
I recommend everybody to travel to Nepal and experience this amazing country and population!
