Working as a volunteer at an orphanage has been a wonderful experience! At first I have to admit I was a bit stressed… Firstly because I had to live with all these children and try to communicate and teach them, while most of them didn’t even know basic english! Plus I was the only volunteer there, so loneliness was also something I had to deal with the first days… Also, working and living at an orphanage basically means that you don’t have a working schedule-you’re always there. But after a while, everything falls into place! You’re surprised to see how you can find other ways to connect, understand each other and make fun! And how rewarding it is to see that the kids are actually learning!
The induction definitely made it easier and gave us a lot of useful information. And not just for the project but also for our life in Nepal and how to get around without having any problems. And of course the amazing VIN stuff, always there to help and support us!
Overall, I’m so glad I’ve made this journey and had the chance to know a lot of things about the nepali culture, meeting a lot of kind and interesting people and seeing many beautiful places! Thank you guys!
