Sushmita Ojha

Introduction

Sushmita Ojha, a bright and compassionate 16-year-old girl, lives in Ward No. 3 of Siddhicharan Municipality, Okhaldhunga, Nepal. She recently completed her SEE examination from Shree Narayansthan Secondary School in Asine with an impressive 3.51 GPA and now hopes to continue her higher education. However, the path forward is uncertain.

Despite living in poverty, Sushmita remains cheerful, responsible, and deeply committed to learning. Her love for books is evident — she is often found immersed in reading in the school library. But financial hardship now threatens to cut short her academic journey. Her father, a seasonal priest, is the family’s only breadwinner, while her mother suffers from mental illness and cannot contribute to the household. Sushmita’s only hope to continue her studies and create a better future for herself, and her family is through the sponsorship.

Teachers describe her as honest, enthusiastic, and a natural leader. Younger students admire her and often rush to her side with joy. Sushmita’s dream is simple yet powerful, to continue her education and uplift her family.

Family & Challenges

Sushmita lives in a family of five and is the middle child. She shares household responsibilities like cattle grazing, helping in the fields, and tutoring her younger siblings. Her father’s seasonal work as a priest barely covers their most basic needs. Her mother’s mental health condition adds another layer of difficulty to the family’s daily life.
Parents’ Occupation: Father – Priest (seasonal); Mother – Unable to work (mentally impaired)

  • Average Monthly Family Income: NRs 10,000
  • Number of Family Members: 5

Key Challenges:

  • Financial Instability: The father’s seasonal income is inconsistent and insufficient.
  • Lack of Support: The family struggles to afford school fees, books, uniforms, and basic needs.
  • Health & Home Care: The mother’s condition requires care, limiting household income further.
  • Risk of Dropping Out: Without sponsorship, Sushmita may not be able to continue her education.

The Need for Sponsorship

Sushmita Ojha Family

For Sushmita, sponsorship would mean much more than financial assistance — it would be a chance to pursue her dreams. Sponsorship will provide:

  • Tuition Support: Assistance with school fees, entrance fees, and exam costs
  • Essential School Supplies: Books, stationery, and uniforms
  • Access to Healthcare: Ensuring basic health needs are met
  • Nutritional Support: Helping maintain her health and focus
  • Emotional Security: Giving her the peace of mind to study without fear of dropping out

The Impact of Sponsorship

Sponsoring Sushmita will enable her to:

  • Continue Her Education: Helping her pursue further studies with confidence
  • Support Her Family: Relieving financial pressure and allowing her to contribute meaningfully in the future
  • Grow as a Leader: Encouraging her to continue leading social initiatives like the SuperHero Club
  • Inspire Others: Showing other girls that education and leadership are possible even in adversity

Conclusion

Sushmita Ojha is an inspiring young girl filled with hope, courage, and the desire to make a difference. She has already shown what she is capable of through her studies and community service. But without support, her journey could end here. Sponsorship is the key to helping her unlock her potential and bring her dreams to life — for herself, for her family, and for the community that looks up to her.
