Why sponsor this child ?
Sajuna lost her parents very young and she was taken by her far relative / neighbor. They promised to give her a home to eat but instead she had to take care of the older parents in the family and do all household and agriculture chores.
Despite having a traumatic childhood experience, losing her parents in a tragic death and living with strangers who were often not so kind to her. Despite the reality she has lived in the past and in present, she believes that she doesn’t belong here. She has a lot of belief and positive hope that she can come out of this reality by fulfilling her dreams; to become a lady police officer, to become financially independent and to provide justice to those whose voice are not heard.

Message from her teacher: Samita rana magar , librarian and children learning facilitator
Sajuna`s story is very heartbreaking yet hopeful , but reminds me of the resemblance of lotus flower which often grows inn muddy water but blooms gracefully and shed its beauty .
Over last two years , of my working in the school, I have witnessed Sajuna`s kind and empathic nature . Entire school must agree to this that she has always been seen rescuing injured animals and helping her friends.
She also has strong sense of providing justice and equality since a young age . That’s why she was appointed as student captain and leader of charity club since 2023.
She is very determined and resilient, and I believe that if received some financial support for her higher studies, she can fulfill her dreams and come out of the poverty cycle .

Sajunas case study by Samita ( librarian and children learning facilitator )
I asked to Sajuna, one day , what do you want to become when you grow up ? She said , a police officer . Wow ! that’s great , I said . You would become an amazing lady police.
Soon after some months during term break, we all students went to Ropai festival which was so heartwarming and fun. On the way back , we shared a lot of things about our families. She told me her mother passed away when she was very young . Her father got remarried and brought a stepmom.
And at very young age , her father also passed away. It was a suicide and just at the age of 10 she witnessed her father committing suicide. A lot of villagers and police officers came to the scene. It was very chaotic moment she shared, and she barely understood what was going on. She remembers a lady police held her hand, and was very kind to her. Sajuna was very scared and nervous. But the lady police made her feel very warm and comfortable , and encouraged her to speak what she saw.

Sajunas dreamSajuna plays a role of police in a play

The nice lady police officer made such a memorable impact in her mind and her hear heart that , Sajuna dreams of becoming a police officer, a wise and a good one. She cares to bring justice in society and work on issues in her villages. Sajuna Tamang , age 15 currently studies at grade 9 at Narayansthan Secondary school, Asine ward no 3 , Okhaldhunga. Her village name is khijijemba. A far relative and neighbor took her home, where she is responsible to work all household chores, cook and look after the home.
Sajuna is a very bright and active student, very ahead her age. She is very hardworking, active in extracurricular activities and a very caring friend to her classmates. She shared a lot of good memories spent with her father when she was young. Her father had got her a puppy when she was a child . She had so much attachment and love for that puppy but one day a villager poisoned that puppy . She was very devasted , but since that day her love towards animals became immeasurable. She is a very caring and warm person today with a big and kind heart . That is why she was also selected as a leader of Charity Club of narayansthan school student club 2023 . Along with that , because of her great leadership skills and honestly , she was also elected as a student club president.
After finishing SEE , Sajuna plans in preparing for bar exam to become police and also participates in sports activities to train herself . The current challenges that she faces is that , she often have to miss the library classes during term breaks and her studies , because she has to do a lot of household chores. She barely has money to buy stationeries and eat lunch. If there would be someone who would be supporting her financially for some years , until she gets her first job and becomes independent , it would be really amazing. We could not only help her fulfill her dream but also make her financially independent in future, so that she can bring her family out of poverty.
