Anish Mangrati

Introduction

“What do you want to become after you grow up?”

“I want to join the army.”

“Oh, army. Why?”

“Because I like training, and I can earn a lot of money. I want to feed my father and mother.” He said in a strong voice, staring at my eyes earnestly.

Anish Mangrati, an honest 14-year-old boy, resides in Aange, Thulachhap of Siddhicharan Municipality Ward No. 2, Okhaldhunga, Nepal.  He’s currently in the 6h grade at Raktamala Basic School in Jordhara. He likes sports such as football and volleyball. After classes are over, he walks through paths in fields, leading his friend and sister to home.

“So, to become an army member, until what grade do you need to keep studying?”

“Until 16th grade, to get a bachelor degree.”

Anish is a dedicated student with a real passion for learning.  His family, however, faces significant financial challenges.  These challenges put his education at risk.

Family & Challenges

Anish Mangrati family

Anish lives with the sister of his mother, Sushala Ramtel. Her husband already passed away. There are 4 members in the house, including Sushala’s son and Anish’s smaller brother. Anish’s parents live in India to work. “They send us their income, but it is only 10,000 NRP (about 73 USD) in 3-4 months”, Sushala says. “I also go to earn money around here such as carrying mud and stones for house-building, but even though I work all the day long, it is not enough to have daily meals.”  Their limited finances mean they struggle to afford essentials like school fees, books, uniforms, and healthcare for Anish. “If someone will donate us basic things for school life though sponsorship, it will be really helpful, Sushala adds at the end of the interview.

Here are some of the key challenges they face:

  • Limited Access to Education: Anish often lacks the necessary school supplies, which makes it hard for him to fully participate in his classes.
  • Healthcare Difficulties: Getting regular medical check-ups or emergency care is a real challenge due to their financial situation.
  • Uncertain Future: Without support, Anish’s education, and therefore his future opportunities, are seriously jeopardized.

The Need for Sponsorship

Sponsorship is absolutely essential for Anish.  It will provide him with:

  • Essential School Supplies: This includes books, stationery, and a school uniform, ensuring he has the tools he needs to learn.
  • Tuition Support: Help with school fees and other learning materials.
  • Opportunities Beyond the Classroom: Support to participate in extracurricular activities, which are important for his overall development.
  • Access to Healthcare: Ensuring he can get medical attention when he needs it.
  • Nutritional Support: Helping him stay healthy so he can focus on his studies.

The Impact of Sponsorship

Sponsoring Anish will have a truly transformative effect on his life, his family, and his community.  It will:

  • Keep Him in School: Providing the resources he needs to continue his education and reach his academic goals.
  • Ease the Family’s Burden: Reducing the financial strain on his family, allowing them to use their limited resources more effectively.
  • Empower a Future Leader: Helping Anish build his confidence, develop valuable skills, and become a positive force in his community.
  • Inspire Others: Showing the community the power of education and encouraging the children to pursue their studies.

Conclusion

Anish Mangrati is a promising young boy with a strong desire to learn and succeed, despite the difficult circumstances he faces.  He needs to continue his schooling and break the cycle of poverty that affects his family and community.  He dreams of overcoming these obstacles and building a brighter future for himself and his family.  Sponsorship will give him the stability and the opportunities he needs to achieve his full potential.
