Women’s group meeting in Tarkeshwor municipality-6,Kavresthali Kathmandu

VIN staff had conducted meeting  of women’s group in kavresthali. It is located in Tarkeshwor municipality ward – 6, Kathmandu District. There was 16 women altogether and discussion continued for different topics. The main objectives of the meeting was to those women know VIN’s working schedule and working process and to collect information of existing women’s group, their working process and present situation. During the time, interview with different person like the group members, group chairman and health volunteers were taken. All women were given information about VIN by telling about VIN and their working strategy and Plan.
According to them there are different types of women groups like mother’s groups, micro credit group, agriculture women group, ekal(single) women group etc. According to them, mother’s group has been coordinated by health volunteer and its provides different type of facilities like; time to time government medicine distribution, conducting first aid training, pregnancy awareness program and provide vaccine information, saving collection and loan distribution as well. Mother’s groups has collected all total Rs. 80000/- through monthly saving. It is functioning as a women saving, loan distribution between 36 members and they make the rules for loan distribution; interest rate 10% and maximum amount is Rs. 10000 /-.According to women respondent there is another Agriculture women group also functioning. Usually it is distributing of government subsidy fertilizer and seed to women as a mediator.
Women members had wanted some supports and training from VIN. Especially they gave priority of trainings; group sustainability training, chicken farming and livestock management training, soap making training and public speaking training etc.
Community women were looking little bit interested to form the new women’s groups. If VIN take initiation to form the groups, they will support us. According to respondent, they have been learning and growing stage so it should be better to help them for group sustainable support work.
