Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN) is soon to increase social welfare programs at Kavresthali (Tarakeshor municipality), 6 km far from Kathmandu. Before implementing the program, VIN is conducting survey of the community in order to understand it in detail so that the programs would come out to be effective. For this social welfare program there, local volunteer were selected form Kavresthali itself. After volunteers were selected they were trained, divided in different groups and were sent to collect the community’s data divided in different groups.
In the first stage they were sent to each household to collect all the required information for the social welfare program. And in second stage they will be conducting social mapping to gather up the geographical information of the community. From 1st-27th Jun 2016 volunteers took help from community members to collect the information about geography, their resources, facilities, houses, population, family information, economic condition, health etc.
VIN uses all the collected data and information collected by its volunteers to implement its social welfare program. So to make data collection even more effective, Focused Group Discussion (FDG) is organized starting form 27th June. VIN is conducting FGD with the community health staffs and volunteer. Under the social welfare program, VIN staffs are facilitating and supporting the community members on various discussions aiming to aware them on issues related to health status of community people, diseases, health service from health posts, sanitation issues and so forth. This discussion brings all the important required to implement the social welfare program in the community. For this, VIN, after collecting all the required data, will analyze it and design the program accordingly.
