Agro-farm project is one of the project under environment and conservation program. Agro-farm means agricultural systems that promote the environmentally, socially and economically resonance production of food. By respecting the natural capacity of plants, animals and local conditions, it aims to optimize quality in all aspects of agriculture and the environment. The main objective is to manage land effectively and develop best practices of agro-forestry and agro farm system. The main activities are digging up the fields and sometimes the cows dig up the field by walking through it first so the field are being prepared for the next plantations and the seeds are being put into holes. There is also a lot of cutting too, like cutting of the cabbage, the mustard plants, the peas and the weeds which grow between the vegetables. The weeds are given to the cows and goats. Another main activity is the harvesting, so the vegetables are ready to be taken off. Beans, peas, potatoes, mustard plants are being harvested and they are being put into the big bags so they are ready to be sold at the market.
Working together with the family is a great pleasure and nice experience. It is wonderful to see how the family works together, how they sometimes split up their tasks or just work together as a group. For the volunteers it is also a very nice experience to see how the Nepalese families are working nowadays on their farms and what kind of techniques they are using.
