Program Fees Editor Writer,VIN

This is an opportunity for those who would like to be part of development and empowerment in Nepal, but would rather do this with their writing and language skills, to be an editor-writer, as an integral part of VIN’s Kathmandu office team.

Here at VIN, the overriding objective is the empowerment of marginalised communities, with a focus on those most marginalised; women and children.  We have been working with Jitpurphedi Village Development Committee (VDC) since 2007 and have recently begun work with Okhaldhunga district in the Everest region.  Our community work is based on the foundations of health, education, the acquisition of economic tools and the provision of basic infrastructure.

As a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation dependent on international volunteer resources, VIN’s website and other written communications are crucial for continued success.  Our website is effectively our shop window and must be kept up to date with quality material, ensuring it is a source of reliable information for our supporters.  Furthermore, we need to keep our supporters updated on our project accomplishments and produce a regular newsletter for subscribers.  At VIN we need volunteers or interns with a high level of English Language who would like to practice their editing and writing skills and put them to good use to produce our publications to a professional standard.

During your volunteer or intern placement you will be based in Kathmandu and will work from the VIN office. Your role as editor- writer volunteer will include writing or correcting website content, writing articles based on VIN community projects, composing the newsletter to include our activities and accomplishments, plus other administrative roles, where your written English will be an asset.

For the duration of your placement you will live with a Nepali family.  This will ensure that you become immersed in the Nepali culture and language and allowing you to forge real bonds with this diverse country.
