Child Care Children Home

Program Fees Volunteer with the children of Child Care Children Home

VIN’s Child Care Children Home Project promotes the right to survival and development of disadvantaged children, as part of our Children’s Development Program. VIN works with partner orphanages in Nepal and with the help of international volunteers and interns provides the care, support and attention that the children in these institutions desperately need.

Walk the streets of Kathmandu and you will see the children that wander them.  Many have left destitute villages to find work in the capital and will end up trapped in child labour in restaurants, hotels and factories.  Many of these children are subjected to sexual abuse by their employers.  Without the availability of proper child care and education, more and more children will end up on the streets and vulnerable to abuse.

VIN works with a number of Child Care Children Home in the Kathmandu area, placing international volunteers in the orphanages to assist with child care and to give the children thelove and attention they need. Volunteering in a Child Care Children Home is a great way to make a difference in the lives of children who lack the resources and opportunities they deserve for basic childhood development. In addition to providing volunteer opportunities, VIN also searches for donors to sponsor a child for child education.

VIN are looking for passionate, caring volunteers to continue the work with our partner child care Children home.  The role is often highly demanding but equally rewarding. As an Child Care Children Home volunteer you may find yourself constantly busy from the moment you wake up to the time the children are sent to bed.  In the morning you will rise with the children and help them begin their day, guiding them on sanitation and getting them ready for school.  In the afternoon, after you have collected them from school, you will help them complete homework, practice English and take part in outdoor activities, such as games, singing or dancing, before their evening meal.  When the day is over, you will help to settle them for sleep.  All we ask of our volunteers is that they are willing to share themselves with the children.

During your placement, depending on which Child Care Children Home you are working with, you will either live at the child care place or with a Nepali host family.  You will live as the Nepalis live, becoming immersed in their culture and language.
