Youth Club and Life SkillsProgram Fees
VIN invites volunteers and interns to support the work and development of Youth Clubs in marginalised, rural communities. You will be part of a long term project with the aim of inspiring the emerging generation of Nepal and helping them to become confident ambassadors, for themselves, their community and their country.
Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world. It lacks a political constitution, an effective infrastructure and economically it is dependent on labour-intensive subsistence farming. Consequently, Nepal has little to offer its youth and everyday, more than a thousand migrate with the hope of better pay and conditions overseas.
VIN aims to change this trend, providing strength for communities and for the future of Nepal by developing and retaining community youth. Our overall objective is the empowerment of marginalised communities. We have worked with Jitpurphedi Village Development Committee (VDC) since 2007 and have begun initiation work with Okhaldhunga district, in the Everest region. Our approach is the integrated development of the community, working on health, education, economic tools and basic infrastructure. Community youth are an essential force in achieving our aims; a valuable source of volunteers and a meaningful example of inspiration for change.
VIN need volunteers or interns to work with our Youth Clubs. Here, you will hold workshops giving leadership training and education on rights and life skills, such as thinking, relating, working and being. You will organise creative activities to encourage community youth to debate the concepts they are being taught and you will engage them in and help them become a part of the development work taking place in the community.
During your volunteer placement you will live with a Nepali host family. This will enable you to become immersed in this rich culture and allow you to experience the environment from which today’s youth are trying to emerge.Read moreApply now
