On Friday, 2oth Jan 2016, group of 20 volunteers were received by Volunteers Initiative Nepal. The group volunteers from Taiwan were sent by the VYA organisation for 2 weeks program (21st Jan 2016-31st Jan 2-16). They were welcomed by our volunteer manager Dinesh Khatiwada from Tribhuwan International Airport and were placed with their host family. The group volunteers received induction on the next day of their arrival. New group volunteers spent the whole day acquiring knowledge of the Nepali culture, Nepali language and the organization with very useful Health Tips. And the program orientation and information of daily schedule was also included in the induction, volunteers are working in the Jitpur Community into three different areas dividing into three different programs Painting, Teaching and Constructing Toilets.
VIN has categorised the painting program and teaching language and facilitating child friendly activities in the Nagarjun Secondary School of Jitpur community. The volunteers decorated the classrooms of the school with paints and colours which are assembled by the VIN. Some volunteers are teaching Basic English to the children and trained them with different physical activities which support the children for their mental, physical and social development. And on the other hand some volunteers of construction are working for six families in the community. The volunteers are digging the whole for the safety tanks of the toilets which is the first step of constructing toilets.
