VIN has been implementing WASH project in Jitpurphedi community, Kathmandu. The main objective of the WASH projects is to improve health and hygiene situation by assuring all families have toilet and quality of drinking water. Under WASH project VIN has been constructing toilet by supporting with construction materials and labor contribution by mobilizing volunteers. VIN provides materials such as 3 bags cement, 20kg iron rod, 2 pieces roof materials, pan pipe set and metal wire and also mobilize local and international volunteers. There is equal contribution from VIN and the families themselves. The families also provide local materials such as stone, brick, wood, door lock etc and labor.
Last week VIN conducted toilet construction project in Tinkhoria Dadagaun Kathmandu. VIN provided health awareness program in Tinkhoria and Mahadevsthan Primary School Dandagaun. VIN mobilized eight local and international volunteers for construction in Tinkhoria. Currently volunteers are digging safety tank and constructing walls of tank. They are constructing four safety tanks and completed the construction of one toilet. They are involved in the construction work from 10.00 Am to 4.00 pm, 5 days per week. Families and the volunteers are working together. The volunteers are regularly followed up by VIN staff.
