VIN has been conducting health camps at schools from the beginning of implementing health programs in Jitpur. Health camps under School health program focus on school children’s health. This time a health camp was conducted in orphanage to ensure good health of children. Major objectives of health camps are as follows:
- To check general health of the children
- To screen the oral hygiene of the children
- De worming the children
- To aware children on hygiene and sanitation
Based on these objectives health camp was conducted at Ganesh Himal Orphange. Dr Laxmi and Shyam from VIN visited to Orphanage on 2nd Jan, 2015. Camp was divided into two sessions- general checkup and Hygiene education- hand washing and teeth brushing training to children.
VIN doctor checked all children and Findings that there were 21 children of 6-11 age groups. Among all 11 were female. Regarding health problems they have no complaints. During examination it was found that many of them have dental problem. Out of 21, 5 were found having dental caries with some of them were badly suffered from dental and gums infection. Similarly, 2 has dirty hair, a child has a small scratch wound on cheek, a female child has skin rashes on chest and a child has earache which was found ear wax on examination.
All of them were advised to follow hygiene, regular teeth brush and hand washing. Children with health problem were prescribed medicine. VIN team managed them to get medicine and give them clear instructions to use medicine.
In the second part of the camp children were taught about hand washing and teeth brushing. We train them on appropriate hand washing and teeth brushing training and gave them new brushes, tooth paste and soaps. Children were told about the time of hand washing with soap and teeth brushing.
