VIN has been sponsoring poor and needy children from Taluwa VDC, Okhaldhunga. Till June 2014, 35 children are being benefited by this program. These children represents different 8 schools of Taluwa VDC, Each year the number is increasing gradually. The program is being run under children development program.
The selected child gets all the required educational materials, uniform, playing materials, school fees and medical cost each year. Possible children are selected on the basis of educational ability and economic status of their family members.
Sponsored children are happy for getting help and support from VIN to continue their education, while their parents are also happy for being able to educate their children.
The main aim of the program is to provide opportunity and courage them for education. One of the major cause of high dropout rate of children from school in Okhaldhunga is due to poverty. In this remote place, most of the people are farmers and they are following traditional farming. But VIN is planning to orient and train them on cash crop farming, vegetable farming with modern farming techniques. This could help farmers of Taluwa VDC increase their earnings so that they could be able to educate their children independently.
