Volunteer Coordinator

Program Fees Coordinator,VIN

VIN’s Volunteer Coordinator placement or internship is open to anyone who would like to be part of the management side of VIN. You will help to provide direction for our volunteers, interns and our overall projects.  This is an ideal opportunity for those who love to travel, meet and work with people.

Here at VIN, our overriding objective is the empowerment of marginalised communities, with a focus on those most marginalised; women and children.  We have been working with Jitpurphedi Village Development Committee (VDC) since 2007 and have recently begun work with Okhaldhunga district, Everest region.  Our community work is based on the foundations of health, education, the acquisition of economic tools and the provision of basic infrastructure.  On these foundations we believe we can build empowered and independent communities.

As a not-for-profit and non-governmental organisation VIN is dependent upon the resources of international volunteers for continued support.  Our dedicated staff strive to make the most of the time and money that our volunteers bring to the organisation and ensure the experience for the volunteer is a life enhancing one.  However, with over 40 individual projects in the Kathmandu Valley and beyond, the management of our volunteers is a time-consuming role.

This is an opportunity for a confident and motivated volunteer coordinator to shape the experience of our volunteers and the projects run by VIN.  We encourage a commitment of a minimum three months, during which time you will have the opportunity to see all VIN’s projects from community schools to Buddhist monasteries and understand how development work operates.  Your role will be to receive volunteers, prepare them for their respective projects, oversee placements in rural areas and provide support, where necessary.

During your placement you will live with a Nepali host family, allowing you to become immersed in the Nepali language and culture.
