Fund Raising and Grant Writing

Program Fees Grant Writer amd Fund Raiser,VIN

As a not-for-profit, non-governmental (NGO) organisation, VIN does not have a funding agency.  Our work is funded by our supporters.  We are looking for a volunteer or intern, keen to put their writing skills to good use, to write comprehensive proposals to be sent to numerous organisations in the hope of fund raising.

At VIN our overriding objective is the empowerment of marginalised communities, focusing on those most marginalised; women and children.  We have been working with Jitpurphedi Village Development Committee (VDC) since 2007 and have recently begun work in Okhaldhunga district in the Everest region.  Across the community, our work is based on four foundations; health, education, economic tools and the provision of basic infrastructure.  On these foundations we believe we can build an empowered and independent community.

While VIN supports a body of staff and local volunteers, all of whom ensure the consistent running of our programs, we a solely dependent upon our volunteer programs for support.  As a fund raising volunteer or intern you will have the opportunity to see many of our community projects in action.  Once you have visited, researched and understood our projects, you can begin to write detailed proposals.  You will also be involved in writing grant proposals for future projects, based on research.

You will be based at the VIN office in Kathmandu, working in fund raising and grant writing, five to six hours a day, up to six days a week.  Your free time will allow you to explore Kathmandu and its sister cities and to venture further into the Kathmandu Valley.

During your placement you will live with a Nepali host family.  Here, you will have the opportunity to become immersed in family, community and Nepali cultural life.  As well as enriching your volunteer experience, this insight will also provide a good background for your work with VIN.
